This
course is designed in French as a tool for communication for
management/business students who are mostly beginners in the Department of
Management Studies Education. It is specially designed to enable them acquire
the basic rudiments of the language with emphasis on communication, vocabulary
and expressions. Emphasis will also be placed on correct pronunciation of sound
patterns, intonation and stress when students are engaged in basic conversation
such as greetings, introducing oneself or someone, making request, expressing
regret, making telephone calls etc. The use of variety of recorded audio-oral
and video Teaching Learning Material will be encouraged to help students build
their listening and speaking skills in French. The communicative approach is
used to enable students express themselves in different life situations. Class
activities will be based on oral comprehension, role plays and guided
discussion. Students will have the opportunity to listen to specific recorded
French documents which will serve as a basis for further oral discussion in
French. This will be supplemented with written exercises aimed at giving
students ample opportunity to maximize their use of the language.
