The course is designed to introduce students to the theoretical foundations and practical applications of educational software in teaching and learning, and research in mathematics education.

 The topics to be covered include Issues in ICT, The Conceptual Computer, Bringing Technology to Schools (justifying the use of computers in schools, current climate for technology in schools: issues to consider, planning and implementing technology), Learning Theories and Integration Models, Teaching and Learning with Technology (integrating software/tools into teaching and learning, Integrating internet and other distance resources into teaching and learning), Web-Based Learning (background of the internet, web quests and teaching/learning with the internet). Hands on practical sessions would include training in the use of Advanced tools in Microsoft Office Applications (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint) and Internet Applications and Services (conducting advanced search, designing online surveys etc.). Students shall also be exposed to the use of Latex Software for scientific document preparation.
